Challenge:
Deteriorating concrete columns in the Halton Region reservoir required repair to preserve the structural integrity of the facility and avoid catastrophic failure. To completely replace the columns would be costly and time-consuming.

Solution:
TCI provided an innovative solution that would not lead to a full replacement. TCI CarbonStrong 850, a carbon fibre reinforced polymer (CFRP), was externally wrapped around existing columns to provide structural reinforcement to the deteriorating concrete. Engineered for exceptional tensile strength, flexibility, and bonding performance,  TCI’s carbon fibre allowed for the columns to significantly increase load bearing capacity and restore structural integrity.
