FAQs
TCI products are aimed at extending the service life of water, wastewater and other infrastructure rather than asset replacement, which is more harmful to the environment. Rehabilitating and extending the life of assets allows municipalities to avoid the embodied carbon associated with new construction and materials, demolition and disposal (landfill conservation). All of TCI’s epoxy products and fiberglass rebar are manufactured locally and align strongly with green initiatives, sustainability goals and reducing carbon footprint. Many of our products provide new and innovative technologies that are more environmentally friendly than traditional counterparts. For example, TCI’s Fiberglass Rebar is produced using 43% less CO2 than traditional carbon steel rebar, eliminating corrosion thereby extending asset lifespans.
All TCI epoxy products and Carbon Fibre Systems require power washing concrete at 5000 psi to remove existing dust, laitance, grease, waxes and any other foreign particles from the surface area. TCI products can be applied on dry or damp saturated surface dry (SSD) substrates. TCI will work with you to ensure assets are ready for our products.
TCI provides one of the longest liner warranties in the industry, because our products have been third party tested and shown to last. Our installers qualify for the 10-year warranty through a comprehensive quality assurance and quality control program. Installers will undergo classroom, application, and field training to become certified applicators. Certified applicators will be trained in the completion of quality control documentation, which TCI reviews along with usage rates prior to releasing the warranty. TCI also mandates that third party pull tests be conducted throughout the project. With a TCI warranty, municipalities can feel confident in products that last.
TCI has a large variety of products to meet your project needs. For large diameter wastewater pipes, our CarbonStrong system has been SWAT tested and shown to protect concrete from H2S attack. Our CarbonStrong system, which includes CFRP, TCI ShieldStrong 955-PL-G and TCI ProTecStrong 855-R (repair), has been used internally on both new construction and in-situ rehabilitation of wastewater pipes and watermains. TCI CarbonStrong has also been used externally on watermains that are at risk of failure and provides structural support for maintaining the pressure within the pipe while still in service. In addition to TCI protective liners, Transmission and Sub-Transmission watermains are also being treated externally with TCI SprayStrong Plus+ to mitigate the harmful effects of corrosion and extend the life of these assets.
TCI has two colors for our TCI ShieldStrong 955-PL liner to differentiate between potable water applications and sewer applications. The blue liner is NSF tested and approved and can be applied in potable water settings, while the green liner has been SWAT tested and proves effective in corrosive environments. TCI can alter the colors of our epoxy products depending on your projects. Contact us to learn more.
